Labradorites were named from Labrador, a region in Canada where much of the stones are mined. Labradorites are full of numerous folklore and stories throughout the arctic zone. One tale is that labradorites were sent from the heavens to help light up the northern skies creating vast aurora borealis helping the inhabitants survive, hunt and find their way home during the many months of darkness.
